Converting our own LeadGenerators Site

Another site conversion article?  Readers will know how much we love our site conversion articles.  Fortunately our readers seem to like them too – they are always the most read article of our newsletter.  This month we have a slight twist on the feature, as we show how we optimised our own site – not LeadGenerators’ website, but the LeadGenerators offices.

We’ve been in these offices for around 3 years, and before we decided to spruce them up they were like many workspaces around the country – a little bland, and not really selling the creative potential that we are so proud of. So, kitted out with a few beers and pizzas one balmy Friday afternoon in September, our team set to work transforming our humdrum offices into an eye-catching new design.

Unfortunately, we only have one image to share of the office before – a work in progress having moved all our old desks into the middle of the room. It should still give you an idea of our former workspace though, described by our long-serving PPC expert Vicky Scott as resembling a “70s granny flat”.

With 12 new desks, 18 new chairs and a bookcase to assemble, as well as painting to be done, it took a fair bit of time to put this together. Congratulations to Tim for earning the title of ‘Chair King’ thanks to his speediness with the tools provided, and Frank deserves praise for maintaining his nerve with a frankly terrifying looking drill!

The new theme of the office is a simple mix of black, white and red – though we’re quickly learning of the importance of coasters on our shiny new white desks.

We also now have a rather elegant glass meeting table, surrounded by extraordinarily comfortable egg chairs.

But perhaps the most striking change (other than a new found respect for my ability to assemble flat-pack) are the two striking pieces of art adding some colour and focus to the room

These are the work of our very own Vicky Scott who, when she’s not managing your Pay Per Click campaigns, is usually covered in paint working on her own artwork at home. We commissioned her to come up with some art that communicated something about us and how we work. Giving her a long list of requirements (it had to stand out, it had to be clean and clinical, have a unique feel and show the creativity of the company) we feel she’s done us proud with the results.

The first picture, hanging proudly over our meeting table is, according to the artist, all about the sharing of ideas, making it perfectly placed in the area where we have our meetings, do our brainstorming and (most importantly of all) have group lunches!  She feels it has slight communist undertones, but the connected heads demonstrate the hive mentality we aim to have with online marketing, while maintaining a true dictatorial democracy.  No, not like Stalin at all, really!

The second picture hangs on the other side of the room. The idea behind this one is creativity, as represented by the rainbows. The brainstorms here take the literal form of rainy storm clouds because you can’t have rainbows without rain. Of course!

And if her work has convinced you of her talent, then you can see more of her artwork on her own website.

As for the conclusion of this site conversion, it’s a little early to say.  It is certainly a more pleasant work environment.  When you see the quality of your work improve even further and the results that we achieve for you skyrocket, you will of course know that it is all down to black, white and red, coupled with Vicky’s amazing images.

After all, as we keep saying, improved results is the real purpose of any site conversion!
