Wake Up To Caffeine
SEO companies across the world have started to wake up to Caffeine. No, not the powdered variety that you mix with boiling water in order to get your concentration levels up, but the new Google update that everyone's been talking about.

For those who aren't in the know, Caffeine is a major upgrade of the Google search engine and promises to change not only the way that we implement SEO, but also the way that we search. Caffeine's main objectives are to provide its consumers with search results that are more relevant and active, and at a much faster speed.

What Do The Experts Say?

In fact, Matt Cutts, an associate at Google, has said about the upgrade: "Caffeine is a fundamental re-architecting of how our indexing system works. It's larger than a revamp. It's more along the lines of a rewrite. And it's really great. It gives us a lot more flexibility, a lot more power. The ability to index more documents. Indexing speeds - that is how quickly you can put a document through our indexing system and make it searchable - is much, much better."

Speedier and More Comprehensive

A speedier, more comprehensive version of Google sounds like a dream come true. However, those eager to try out the new Google Caffeine will have to wait until the spring, following news that the testing sandbox has now closed. This means that most of our clients at LeadGenerators won't notice any changes in their SEO campaigns until well into the New Year. As SEO experts in the travel industry, we realise that spring is the time that many of our clients garner their summer bookings, but before you start panicking about how the new changes will affect your rankings for the summer season; the official line from Google is that they won't.

Faster Indexing

There are no changes to the ranking algorithm, but rather the changes are internal ones that should ultimately lead to fresher results. This means that any changes to your website will be indexed faster and it also gives you the opportunity to make the most of seasonal offers. If you have an onsite blog it's even better, as the new changes mean that blog posts will be indexed a lot quicker.

Keyword Emphasis

Caffeine will also put more emphasis on keywords, titles, synonyms and keyword strings, which is great news for anyone who focuses on updating their site with quality unique and well optimised content on a frequent basis.” Opinion also suggests that domains which are strongly keyword rich are being given more exposure – again, a good thing for SEO. In contrast it is suggested that You Tube results and images are being given less weight.

New Content

Similarly, the Caffeine algorithm gives stronger emphasis on new content and this is great news if you have an on-site blog that is updated regularly. These results have been given more weighting so as to counteract the competition from the real time results challenges offered by Twitter and Facebook. Slightly more weight will be given to domain names that exactly match the search commands and the update will also include a citation metric, in which popularity is assessed over age and relevance.

Is Caffeine Good for you?

With faster and deeper crawl rates, it seems that Caffeine is nothing but great news for SEO companies and we at LeadGenerators certainly can't wait for our caffeine boost. Although rankings may fluctuate, an expert quote from Impact Media sums up Caffeine perfectly by stating that "Caffeine should be celebrated as the first steps towards fully blown real-time search, rather than a harbinger of doom for websites and their SEO”.

As our own SEO programs have always included three heaped spoonfuls of good fresh, key phrase rich content (both one site and off site) and with all the positive press behind the new Google update, we believe that Caffeine will give our clients more of a buzz than a headache.
