Marathon Dreams

We all know there’s no gain without pain and having recently taken part in the London Marathon (cheering from the sidelines is taking part, right?), I was reminded once again how important it is to not only have an objective to reach, but also the right tools to get you there. I’m guessing all those people who I watched struggling across the finish line the other week didn’t just get up that morning and decide to run 26 miles on a whim; in fact, most of them had probably been training for months.
Does my Blog Carry Any SEO Weight?
Posted by Fiona Stevens May 25, 2010Categories: #SEMstump | No Comments
Question:
As Social Media seems to be increasingly important in the world of websites, I’ve recently set up a blog for my company. But I was wondering whether I should be applying the same principles to the blog as to the site where Search Engine Optimisation is concerned. Do blogs carry any SEO weight or are they purely for people rather than search engines?
James, London
Answer:
Hi James,
Once upon a time, I would have been able to answer this question very quickly and easily, however as Google continues to move the goal posts, the relationship between blogs and SEO has become ever so slightly more evolved.
Why Aren’t My Links Showing in Webmaster?
Posted by Emily Collins May 25, 2010Categories: #SEMstump | No Comments
Question:
Why aren’t all my links showing up in Google Webmaster? I’ve uploaded my viral link articles to numerous websites and have arranged link exchanges with people, where I’ve actually seen the link placed on their websites. However, when I look at my Webmaster links or attempt the Google link command these same links just don’t appear. Why aren’t they showing up in Google and if they aren’t showing up am I still getting credit for them?
Felicity, Bedfordshire
Answer:
Hi Felicity,
There are a number of different reasons as to why your links aren’t showing up on Webmaster or through the Google link command.

A while ago, we created a new webpage for our internet marketing seminars. When it was nearly completed we crowded around our web designer’s computer to take a quick look. The site design was great, but where the text should be were the strange words “lorem ipsum”. Read More

If you’re just tentatively dipping your toes into the mind-boggling world of Online Marketing, or even if you’re just looking to update your skills (and let’s face it, that should be all of us), the best way to do both is to book yourself, and your team, into an Internet Marketing Seminar.
Food 2.0 – Online Terminology Boiled Down

For those of you who have attended my Internet Marketing Seminars, you will be familiar with three of my passions. The third one is that I am a TED fan.
I recently decided to watch (again!) Rory Sutherland presentation “Life Lessons from an Ad Man” . It is not a new talk but, for those who have not heard him speak before, this is a great presentation given by a master speaker. I thoroughly recommend taking the time to watch him.
