SEO on a Plate

Now that the weekend is nearing, the roast dinners and barbeques of the weekends are beginning to become an exciting prospect once again.  This blog post by Rand Fishkin has managed to bring them right back to the forefront of my mind, as he compares online marketing solutions to cookery.

This fascinating post recognises the problems that SEOers often have in explaining their craft to those who are not in the industry, and shows how the analogy of cooking can be used.  Rand covers everything from being open-minded when choosing ingredients (a.k.a. choosing your keywords), to ensuring that those ingredients are added in the correct order (a.k.a. site structure), to providing the main dish with great accompaniments such as a good bottle of wine (or a good viral marketing strategy…).

So next time you’re struggling to explain the online marketing solutions that you provide, why not try turning to the kitchen?
