The automotive and transport sector has witnessed a decline since last month, but still nearly 59% up since February. Property searching has been steadily decreasing since its uplift in March. Transport, technology and publishing have also decreased slightly. The finance, retail, entertainment and services sectors have all grown in terms of search in the last month.
Travel sector
The travel sector provides us with a mixed picture. On the one hand, safari searches have dramatically risen. It seems that we have become more adventurous as mentioned in the previous travel sector report. On the other hand, skiing holidays have decreased which may be because skiing is more of a winter sport and such holidays are likely to pick up from September onwards. Package holidays and long haul resort holidays have also seen a decline. Such holidays may have lost popularity in favour of more dynamic holidays where the holidaymaker tailors their holiday to suit their needs more precisely. Although some types of holidays seem to shoot up and down throughout the year, city breaks to areas such as Paris, for example, seem to be popular all year round.
The travel sector appears to be entering a lull at this stage. In general, people are taking the holidays they have been searching on all year, and not yet looking for new breaks! The winter holiday booking season will pick up when the summer holidays have been taken, as surely as night follows day.
